Green-gazing [the garden]

I have no brain right now, and I'm not good at taking naps, so I'm mostly just flopping around futilely this afternoon. A good time to take stock of the yard, although I didn't take any photos because I hate my smart-o-phone's camera and have only just ordered a replacement for my old Canon PowerShot A620.

The garden is coming back to life. My thyme plant is flowering. We'll have harvestable rhubarb fairly soon. Lots of the strawberry plants have flowers, and same goes for the blueberry bushes. The pluot tree is done flowering already and has a flush of fresh, green leaves. Both apple trees have blossoms. The maple trees in front are putting out their lacy green fingers, and the pomegranate bush is looking satisfied with life. The bit of fern I stole from in front of L's door is uncurling a new frond. The slow, steady movement of plants is an important marker of time.

Ferrets aren't allowed in California, but we could really use one to take care of the rats that have been partying with the chickens lately. Can we get a weasel instead? Coyote urine?

Rat-sized trebuchet?
It's hard to find something that will choose to battle rats rather than eat chickens.
