Grand Canyon, North Rim Photos

Well, I have managed to successfully procrastinate yet again. I have now posted photos of our Grand Canyon North Rim expedition, which can be found here. Enjoy!

Really, though, my photos hardly do the trip any justice. The canyon is kind of mind-boggling when simply viewed from above, and it was challenging even to take it all in. I don't have tons of pictures from Cape Final because I was really just trying to soak it all in. The Colorado River completes a 90-degree bend at that point in the canyon, so on certain outcroppings we had an almost 270-degree view of the canyon.

Also, the bike ride itself was pretty amazing--as nice as one could ask for, really. We rode along roller-coaster hills with extremely smooth pavement, and the drivers were pretty nice about following and passing. I think it helps that everyone was in vacation mode, so we weren't having to deal with impatient commuting drivers.

I didn't take any pictures of this, but the trees were fantastic as well--tall ponderosa pine and quaking aspen, with occasional fir and spruce interspersed. I miss forests.

Loaded and ready to roll

WOW that looks fun!!

A few comments:

I have the same tent as P and LOVE IT.

Those front panniers are causing heretofore-unfelt pangs of longing.

Love your stripey socks. :)

ps - I rode 11.5 miles on Sunday (with hills!). Maybe one day I will bike tour, too.
