Got a phone call from FedEx, bikes arriving tomorrow morning. Drat to that, but life will go on.
This morning: went over to PCC and picked up a strange assortment of bulk goods (namely, 2 pints of shampoo and a crap-ton of peppercorns). Re-named my mom's bicycle--it will now be known as Crap Hound. I used to call it the Blue Devil. I put on long underwear under my skirt because it is cold here, and I was too stupid to bring pants. I also put on socks under my ridiculous red sandals because it is cold here.
popcultureicon says I will fit in nicely with the locals, although I keep feeling like I'm being watched as I zoom past people on Crap Hound.
Then I stopped in at E.T.G. (Espresso to Go), Seattle's second-oldest coffeeshop that's still around. If I get around to it, I will upload that illustration. Tasty. Then I stopped in at Theo's to pick up some supplies for our weekend excursion. Five bars of chocolate for five people should be sufficient, I hope, at least for the first day.
I also made our reservation for the Conference Bike. We shall ride it down to the Ocean! Hurrah!
Now, jammy jam.

I really like the idea of letting the rhubarb macerate for a few hours, though. I came across a recipe a while ago that also called for roasting it, which I am going to have to try at some point. The evidence from our CSA suggests that it is actually possible to get it to grow in Arizona, although it is seriously puny compared to the stuff my dad just kind of casually brought in from the garden. You northwestern gardeners have it so easy.
