Hooray UK

Yesterday I took the train back from the Paris Gare du Nord to London. I wabt to believe I've recovered from PBP already, so in the afternoon I set out on an exoedition over to Hyde Park, with a planned stop at Nopi en route.

I wish I'd had the presence of mind to dress more nicely; the neighborhood around Nopi is posh and when I reached the joint my feet kept moving because it just didn't feel like the right place to stop.

I had an egg salad sandwich, potato chips, and ice cream in the park instead.

Hyde Park kept making me think about Australia, and how the Australians all like to crowd together when on holiday.  I don't think that's the motivation of the Londoners so much as that there are a limited number of nice, accessible green spaces in the city.

I was exhausted and my feet hurt by the time I got there, so I napped in the grass, had a look around both of the Serpentine galleries (perfect size for an art museum), and then took the Underground back to the hostel for dinner and early bedtime.

By the way - I have a ton of stories and thoughts brewing on the subject of the PBP but am waiting until I am on a computer again before trying to write things out. Altogether I am really glad I did not bring my laptop on this trip!

I always figured Aussies flock for the same reason birds or deer do: it makes it harder for the poisonous predators to get you.

Aye, after that initial round of madness with the train delay, flight delay and missing bicycle! Part of it all is that I am content with fairly simple adventures, like seeing what's in the local grocery or bakery.
