62 crickets today

I think 65 crickets is pretty much the maximum number possible, with the current resources. Any more and I would need to babysit the scintillation counter, plus I would run completely out of time. As it was, I ate lunch at 2:45 today, having gotten underway at 8 am sharp. One small caveat - I had to mix up some more radiolabeled palmitate in the middle of things, which took some time. I was kind of surprised that I managed to pull that off. This time I only evaporated off about 40% of the ethanol, then added in some phosphate-buffered saline with a more basic pH (8.0, as opposed to 7.0 previously).

Only 56 crickets for tomorrow. That will be simpler because I will do everything as a single group (capacity for 53 crickets).

I can tell that I am getting really fatigued because the crickets keep managing to squirt out of my hands and try to run and hide.

My cat is getting resentful and demanding because no one is around to dote on her. She really doesn't want too much, but has a hard time when there's no sense of routine, especially in the evenings when she would like to snuggle but I'm not around.
