The coldness

I had a crazy dream last night, where I came in to work on the remaining sample processing here, but my boss had cleared EVERYTHING out of the lab and cold room. The cold room was pristinely empty.

This dream is laughable if you know anything about this lab space and how it functions. I can't decide if the dream has more to do with anxiety surrounding packing everything up and moving, or if it has more to do with how hard it is for me to work in the cold room for extended periods. Obviously these aren't mutually exclusive explanations for things my subconscious has invented.

And regardless, when I am trying to process 48 cricket ovariole samples a day, the cold room gets COLD, even though I am wearing long johns, a sweater, my Sonicating Jacket (wool sports coat), and earmuffs (ear protection). Having a cold office doesn't help, even though at least the cold office isn't as bad as the draft in Texas.

It doesn't help that extracting lipids from said ovarioles results in a lot of chloroform-methanol exposure, too. Enough to make me loopy towards the end of the day.

Regardless, this will come to an end, soon.

I have to work in a room that certainly isn't THAT cold, but I work there for roughly seven hours a day of late. It makes my whole body hurt.
