Finding the new routine [rowing]

Here's what I'm planning for my new weekly morning routine. On Saturday, I asked E, the woman who runs the whole show, about who tends to show up on Monday mornings. She said, "Well, really, the best way to find out is to just show up." Point taken. Thinking further, I realized that I don't necessarily have to row if I go to the boathouse. They've got a perfectly well-equipped gym, too, with weights and ergs, and then I've got one more visit a week that can count towards the boathouse's Century Club recognition (100 visits / year). The space at home also isn't quite right for working out anyway because doing any exercises or stretching involves some degree of putting things away and getting things out, plus making noise at times of day when other people are still sleeping. I tried out the weight room this morning, just doing some basic core and flying exercises, and it was perfect for the purpose. They've got a chin-up bar, too, and I am thinking it would be cool to get back to a point where I can do a couple of pull-ups. Life goals, eh?

So, Mondays: Strength and flexibility
Tuesdays: Row 6-8 am
Wednesdays: take a break
Thursdays: Row 6-8 am
Fridays: Bike-Friendly Fridays (aka coffeeshop bike rides)
Saturdays: Row 8-10 am (or slightly later depending on other people)
Sundays: take a break

This isn't an especially strenuous routine, but in many ways, that's intentional, because I don't entirely know how crazy work will get here, and I want to be able to maintain fitness even among the crazy.

The next thing I will need to do is to start putting together some sort of training plan. For work, I have just finished writing up a "Semester Plan," so perhaps it makes sense to schedule out a training plan for the same overall timeframe. This is a step where I often get stuck, so we'll see.

I can't say it's any less strenuous than my routine, and probably a bit more, since a fair hunk of that is walking.

Well, for ME it's not especially strenuous. ;^)
