So there went the weekend

Saturday: Rowed, got beaten at Scrabble by my friend S, felt low-energy and napped, picked up a few items at Monterey Market, lab, then dinner with the extended household. Chocolate marmalade cake is greatly improved by doubling the amount of chocolate in the recipe.

This morning I made pancakes and washed a big stack of dishes. I also noticed that sytharin had left a pile of passion fruits on the table out back, and it looked like a large enough pile to justify figuring out what to do with them. The Internets suggested gently heating the scooped-out flesh to soften things and release more juice from the seeds. I'm pleased to report that it works well. Passion fruit juice smells amazing but is tart, so I used a quarter of the juice to make a batch of passion fruit curd. I haven't decided what to do with the rest, but RAC is interested in sorbet, possibly.

A big rainstorm blew through this morning, which was exciting and made me glad/relieved to have an at-home morning.

We'll do a 9 am timepoint tomorrow, so I'll head in to work at 3:30 am.

I still need to work on more job applications. I can't seem to get ahead on them. It's more an issue of confidence than an issue of scheduling the time.
