Yay fall!

I went to Monterey Market yesterday to pick up some groceries. When I walked in, there was a big bin full of the first satsuma crop. Then I walked around the corner and found another bin of "pink lady" apples*. I also may or may not have purchased a whole bunch of brussels sprouts, and some eggnog.

...I hadn't thought of myself as one of those OMG FALL!! people until now. But I will admit that I enjoy making stuff with pumpkin in it.

*n.b. because branding reasons, there are multiple apple varieties getting sold as pink lady. In general they all seem to be reasonably good. The challenge is there's some lag time between when new apple cultivars get developed, and when they go to market, so to some extent apple growers take a gamble on what cultivars are going to be popular. I guess that many thought that honeycrisp apples were going to be a huge hit, and not quite enough thought that pink ladies were going to take off. So other growers producing "cripps pink" apples got on the pink lady trend.
