Oh stories

Riding my bike to and from work, I think of my father and the point where he decided to get a small voice recorder. He found that thing to be super handy for all the kinds of thoughts and ideas that appear while one is riding a bicycle. River crossings. Temperatures. Who knows what else. Much, much easier than stopping to pull out a pencil and small notepad.

When I wrote Bike Commute Haikus for him in January, I basically had to stop and tappity-tap on my smart-o-phone midway through my ride so I could remember the haiku. I've just never reached the point of crossing the activation energy threshold to find my own voice recorder. Part of it is that when I've tried to shop for one, I've immediately gotten annoyed by the nonsense involved in spec'ing out small electronics devices.
