Farewell again, hometown

I always miss this place when I leave, but it's time to go back to Texas one last time and buckle in for one last crazy month.

In today's farewell, I biked over to Le Fournil for a peach croissant and latte, then to Fremont to gather up some chocolates from Theo's to feed to Texas friends (though I can actually purchase many of their chocolates for cheaper in Texas), then to Ballard for a gift. The Ballard stop was especially pleasing because I'd originally thought I'd wind up getting the gift at a chain store, but was able to find it at a local business instead. From there, I headed over to Hardwick's to look for two small miscellanea (to no avail), then back across the University Bridge and up to Broadway. I didn't travel especially fast as the current head cold has settled in my lungs and appears to have reduced my oxygen carrying capacity. Ah well.

On Capitol Hill, I fruitlessly searched for a small gaming store (either it no longer exists or it moved or I did a poor job of remembering where it was located), and then decided to just go get some more pho (Than Bros - moved across the street) and a pound of coffee from Vivace. Then I found some alternative gift items at Elliott Bay instead. From there, home to pack.

All the traipsing about is amusing, but I'm also looking forward to sitting down and working on manuscripts again. Really, I'd prefer a more balanced lifestyle that didn't involve frantic travel-shopping. Having picky standards for things gets pretty inconvenient sometimes.

Which small gaming store were you looking for? I know a little comics store, but no outright gaming stores except for one in Ballard. But yeah, Than Bros pho is still delicious. [grin]

As noted in annikusrex's reply - the one I was looking for apparently closed down, which really wasn't all that surprising. I did spot a comics and games store, but wound up going elsewhere instead. But I'm curious about this one in Ballard - might have to pay it a visit the next time I'm in Seattle!

was it the one that used to be next to matt and micaela's condo on pine? it closed, then was replaced by a wine store, and is now a graffiti store. i think. unless it was next door to that. in which case i believe it's currently empty? anyway, lots of turnover on that block.

Yeah, that was the one! And yeah, definitely lots of turnover in that area. A bit dizzying, really. I did spot a comics and games shop on Broadway proper, but decided to visit Elliott Bay instead and found some other acceptable alternative gifts.
