Since I'm about to fly to Arizona for the weekend, I decided to spend the morning at home, continuing to unpack and tidy things. My friend gfrancie recently moved into a new house, and has been writing and sharing photos of the process of getting settled, which makes me think of her as I do the same thing. There are a number of stages to the whole unpacking process, most of which are fairly unglamorous (e.g. the huge pile of stuff to go to charity / the dumpster / OUT). So it's most rewarding when things finally reach a stage where they're at least somewhat photogenic. Here's the first really photogenic corner in the Sour Milk House:

It's a corner of the living room that I'll call the Library (reminds me of living in the garage, which also had a corner - albeit much smaller - called the Library).

Do you see what I did there, with the miscellaneous rowing paraphernalia?

Here's what another corner of the living room looks like, after the morning's tidying session:

Living room, now more tidy

This corner is the office / art studio section, including gobs of sewing stuff strewn about everywhere. Feel the estrogen, or something. I am also so pleased by the discovery that the Navajo rug that was a graduation gift from my parents matches so nicely with the loveseat. It will go on the wall...eventually.

You can click through for other photos, if you are inclined to look at this sort of stuff. The views to the left and right of the second photo, are MUCH less attractive. There are four big boxes full of files to the left of the desk, which I need to go through and curate. That's some heavy-duty procrastination material.

Then I biked to the airport. For some reason, Lincoln hasn't been experiencing the insane wintry weather that's been hitting elsewhere. The bike paths were clear, and it's supposed to get up to the 50's here this weekend. I don't think I've emphasized this enough, yet: Lincoln has phenomenal bike paths. I crossed over a beautiful overpass to reach the airport, and the airport has covered bike parking:

So civilized. They also aren't playing country music. Classic rock and hits from the 80's, which is just amusing.

Wow! The place is ADORABLE! Looks so home and set-up already. The Library/Fireplace is just so inviting.

I think it's pretty clear now why I wanted to stay in the space despite its issues (pesticides, mildew problems). :-) I'm still really hoping the bleach will have helped with at least the former issue.

You're making it sound more attractive all the time. We'll bring out our bikes when we manage to visit.
